Make Up

Make up is an important part of costuming and the overall performance look.  We do not require students to wear a specific brand or any particular shades of eyeshadow, blush,, etc… but, we do HIGHLY suggest buying products that are of mid/high quality and will last through any sweating or physical activities (dancing).

Below you will see a table of what make up products we suggest using based on age and appropriateness. *Make up is not required just suggested! When students are on stage with all the bright lights it tends to wash them out if they do not have the recommended make up on!

Ages 5 & Under

  • Blush
  • Lipstick (Warm Pink color preferred)
  • Eyelash tint or mascara
  • Minimal brown/black eyeshadow in the crease of the eye

Ages 6-12

  • Blush
  • Bronzer
  • Lipstick (Warm Pink color preferred)
  • Mascara
  • Brown/black eyeshadow (in the crease of the eye and on eyelid)
  • Eyebrows defined with brow pencil or brow tint

Ages 13 & Up

  • Foundation
  • Blush
  • Bronzer
  • Lipstick (Warm Pink color preferred)
  • Eye-liner
  • Mascara
  • Brown/black eyeshadow (in the crease of the eye and on eyelid)
  • Highlighting eyeshadow (light pink/cream)
  • Eyebrows defined with brow pencil or brow tint

Hair

Hair is also an important part of costuming and the overall performance look.  Each teacher will give specific instructions to their students as to how they want their hair for each recital number.  Listed below, you will see some general requirements for most of the hairstyles.

Ballet Bun

  • No wispies! (A slick, clean look is always required)
  • Please use a hair net to go over the bun (prevents little pieces from sticking out)
  • Closed and open face bobby pins are typically required
  • Use hair ties that make hair color

High Ponytail 

  • No whispies! (A slick, clean look is always required)
  • The ponytail sits on the crown of the head (med/high) ponytail
  • Use hair ties that match hair color
